Riptide by chocalicorn

running down to the riptide

Hey this is daspacepony again! Today we have another feature from the BronyCon PMV Contest, it is “Riptide” by chocalicorn and it got First Place in the Feel Good category which definitely lives up to its status! I remember watching it for the first time and started dancing to the music and singing. The song is really catchy indeed and the perfect cuts added to the PMV’s lovely rhythm and style.

The typography is sufficient and not overbearing, coming up at just the right times. Creatively used to excite the viewer when it is appropriate.

There isn’t really an overarching story throughout the PMV, but instead it has the perfect scenes come up with the right lyrics that makes this really enjoyable to watch! The lightweight, casual feel is perhaps the best part about the PMV. With all the heavily glitchy action packed PMVs that are appearing recently, this lovely piece softens it up by keeping it simple and relaxed.

Lady, running down to the riptide~

Bad Machine | PMV Collab by Tisteve

vinyl_scratch___dj_pon3___gr4p_ica1_by_rariedash

Hey, this is daspacepony! I’m another new author on PMVToday and have been making PMVs and joining PMV collabs since January 2015, here to showcase another amazing PMV!

Do you like crazy glitch effects? Dubstep? Fancy visuals? Collaborations? Then boy, do we have a good one here. Long time PMV maker, Tisteve has hopped on the collab-ing bandwagon and has surely brought the best people in for this style of PMV. Especially Pixel3000nerd and Alanj2007games who are known to make the best “glitch effect” PMVs around, did their parts wonderfully. Not forgetting HarmonicWind’s lovely typography and custom scenes for the rap part of the song; TiMan, Ashie and Tisteve, all bringing their own unique twists to their part of the collab, which is what being in a collab is all about. Besides the slightly too frequent use of typography and little use of visuals in HarmonicWind’s part that felt a little off within the PMV’s heavy effect, heavy visual feel, the whole PMV just blended wonderfully together with the song it went and that’s pretty much the most important thing about a PMV to me. :D

I can’t wait to see more amazing PMVs like this one in the community! Check out the PMV below!

space out~

Pump It by chocalicorn

party_on_wheels_by_underpable-d7of30r

Heya, new author here! I’m Ashieboop, been a fan of MLP for about 5 years now, started creating content 2 years ago. I’ve participated in a few PMV collabs in that time, as well as trying a bit of 3D animation. I also have semi-professional experience in video editing and VFX, so apparently I know things. I’ll try not to nitpick too much!

For my first post, have a great PMV by chocalicorn. It features a lot of Pinkie and Dash in their most energetic moments.

I don’t really have a lot to say about it, there’s so much done right in this PMV! This video finds a good balance between show footage, effects and typography which proves that you don’t need to focus on flashy effects to create a fun filled and energetic video. None of the effects or typography felt overused, while the show footage matched with the energy of the song.

It’s great to have the opportunity to be part of PMVToday, go check out Pump It below!

All in This Together by AlanJ2007 Games

my-little-pony-mlp-art-удалённое-549828

Hiya!  My name is chocalicorn, and this is my first post on PMV Today.  I have been making PMV’s for a little while now, and I like to think that I know what I’m doing.  Enough me talk, let’s get on to the video!

This time, AlanJ2007 Games is back with a brand new video.  The video follows friendship, and shows how Twilight and her friends are All in This Together, as the song suggests.  The video also shows how Twilight can rekindle her relationships with old friends.  Now for the technical stuff, first, we get an nice, clean intro, and then it jumps right into some pretty neat visuals.  This video really hits the spot for me, because I’m a sucker for good typography.  Alan has a really good eye for picking which effects to use, and when to use them.  I was sort of expecting more as the intensity of the song gets higher, but that’s just me.

All in all, this is a really well made PMV, and I encourage you all to check it out. down below.

Madness by Chocalicorn

crazy_chibi_twilight_sparkle_by_alexmakovsky-d4yhv2d

Hello everyone. Jack here again, and I’m gonna start this post off with an apology. You may have noticed that I didn’t post anything last week. Well, it was a result of my depression/social anxiety. I won’t go into too much detail, but I just felt so bad that I kinda wanted to exile myself from everything. I was in a very bad state, but I’m feeling better now. Anyway, enough about me. Let’s get to the PMV.

Made by Chocalicorn, using the song “Madness” by Muse, this PMV focuses mainly on Twilight, and how she has evolved during the show’s progression. Powered by the love she has for her friends, she is able to overcome any obstacle she faces. I feel this story was told well here, and the gradual progression of show clips and filters used led to some good pacing. As the song builds up to its climax, so does the pacing and the effects used, focusing on static typography mixed in of images/clips of Twilight and her friends, showing how much their love really means. I enjoyed the ending scenes to this PMV a lot, as I felt the build-up to that point was there from the beginning, and it definitely carried an emotional and powerful message.

Although some people may consider this PMV simple by nature, I still highly urge people to check this one out. It proves that the best stories don’t have to be told in the fanciest ways. I think Chocalicorn is a talented editor, and I look forward to what he has in store next.

Frame of Mind [Collab] by Alanj2007Games

Aahhh, this made me cry! For about a month, Alanj2007Games coordinated another collaboration PMV, this time to the song “Frame of Mind” by Tristam and Braken. It was originally supposed to be a collab just between him and Nebula Animations, but it was put open as a group collaboration. This allowed me to have the opportunity to work on it, along with some other great PMV creators.

I didn’t see the final product until it was released, which – I admit – allowed for an incredible surprise. The intro immediately left me in awe, giving me chills within the first few seconds. The collab itself contained so many different editing styles and content choices, as well. Two people even did some custom animation for the PMV! Some focused on specific characters like Fluttershy or Rainbow Dash; some used regular (but exciting) motion graphics / typography; and one part, by Nebula, blew me away with the feels in that it used a creative visualization of the Return of Harmony, when Twilight read her old letters to Princess Celestia. It was a blast to work on this PMV, I’m proud of what I came up with, and you definitely will love it too.

MLP Indonesian Intro by Animerge

mlpwhole

I got stuck in a time travelling washing machine. Probably not a good enough excuse, but alas I make my glorious return with a flash bang and whallop. Hello! Hi. Yes. Okay. Let me hang my coat up and take my shoes off.

I’ll be honest with you, my motivation for this site kinda dwindles when there’s a bunch of life stuff that gets in the way. But like a fish to water, you guys are my addiction that I always come crawling back to. So here we have a really underappreciated yet neat fanmade intro for the show! Reminiscent of many Japanese animoo openings (not that I’m an expert), the video has a great sense of presentation and style. There’s some nice masking, a great showcase of the episodes and some visuals that really shine. The ending kinda reminded me of Feedsy’s work yet added a breath of fresh air to it, a twist to the concept of 3D colored lights twirling around one another. Always nice to see this type of content – it really gives the editor a chance to impress.

All in all, this was a delight to watch. 5 years of pony, 5 years of remarkable talent. I want this site to really put a spotlight on those who deserve it, and it’s really hard to think that this guy only has 146 views and 2 subscribers to his name. I’m not sure this site will send him spiraling into horse fame, but I hope it does help at least a bit. Give him some love!

Remembrance by Argodaemon

Hello guys and gals. You ready to go on a feels trip? If you haven’t watched this, you better be ready for some feels. This new video by Argodaemon is really amazing. According to him, the idea and work of this started around 2 years ago. It’s impressive. The ambient in which is portrayed is very cinematic and combining with the small concept story about Twilight’s immortality and wanting to have her friends back really captures the emotions here. No joke, tears were shed when I watched this. I swear there’s some ninjas cutting onions in my room. Twilight’s immortality is something that the fans has been debating now that she’s an alicorn, but has been confirmed by official staff that Twilight will not outlive her friends. Though this concept is still really interesting to get into and make story with it, and sad indeed. Go watch it down below.

Seasons of Love by Abby S

mane_6_by_kp_shadowsquirrel-d58tat2

Welcome back, citizens of the internet. Jack here, showcasing to you today another fine PMV made by one of our very own authors on the site, Abby S.

When watching this PMV, it’s clear that several aspects seen in Abby’s previous PMV’s have evolved significantly. When I covered Abby’s PMV contest entry, Guide You Home, I mentioned how one of my favourite aspects of the PMV was how the show clips matched brilliantly with the music, and this is taken to another level with this PMV. The use of feel-good clips from the show, as well as a small use of vectors and masks at the beginning of the video, already set up a feel-good vibe, but the way the clips, vectors and masks are timed to the beat of the uplifting music create an immersion of positiveness that is hard to break out of. The vibrant, bright filters also add to the feel-good atmosphere this PMV creates, leaving you with a product that makes it very easy to put a smile on your face.

Typography is also present in this PMV, although it is used to a lesser degree than in some of Abby’s previous works. While I feel most of the typography used worked well here, there were a few moments where I felt it was a little intrusive. However, this is a very minor quibble in what is otherwise a fantastic, and clean, traditional PMV. I’ve always been a fan of well-made traditional PMV’s, and Abby is quickly becoming one of my favourite editors in that regard. With an evolution of established techniques on show here, as well as some new techniques being implemented, I look forward to see what she has in store.

Smile by Amanie4cures

smile__mlp__by_aquagalaxy-d74mpie

Hey guys, got a lovely little PMV today from Amanie4cures.

We have another simply edited video, and the slow pace really does fit the song. I think the nice choice of clips coupled with the song itself is really uplifting. The creator did attempt some lipsync, and with more practice this could work really well. The creator also added a little more spice to the video with lens flares and simple but clever transitions between the clips. The editing itself is really well timed. I’m surprised this person doesn’t have more subs, because they certainly deserve them.

Overall I found this PMV very enjoyable, and hope you do too.
