Hey guys! BronyCon is over and we all had a good time :) Today we are starting to post all of the winners for the PMV Contest, and we are starting of with our First Place Winner for Action, HanZh! This was absolutely amazing with Great Visuals and the way he used the clips and made it look like it was some kinda of Action Film, now that’s what I like :) And that ending part with the voice overs and sound effects, that was really cool. So Awesome Job to HanZh and Congratulations to him for winning First Place!
Hey, this is daspacepony! I’m another new author on PMVToday and have been making PMVs and joining PMV collabs since January 2015, here to showcase another amazing PMV!
Do you like crazy glitch effects? Dubstep? Fancy visuals? Collaborations? Then boy, do we have a good one here. Long time PMV maker, Tisteve has hopped on the collab-ing bandwagon and has surely brought the best people in for this style of PMV. Especially Pixel3000nerd and Alanj2007games who are known to make the best “glitch effect” PMVs around, did their parts wonderfully. Not forgetting HarmonicWind’s lovely typography and custom scenes for the rap part of the song; TiMan, Ashie and Tisteve, all bringing their own unique twists to their part of the collab, which is what being in a collab is all about. Besides the slightly too frequent use of typography and little use of visuals in HarmonicWind’s part that felt a little off within the PMV’s heavy effect, heavy visual feel, the whole PMV just blended wonderfully together with the song it went and that’s pretty much the most important thing about a PMV to me. :D
I can’t wait to see more amazing PMVs like this one in the community! Check out the PMV below!
Oh Hi there! I’m Soniccrew128. And Today I’m here to show all of you an beautiful collab, My Everything hosted by GuncaPMV.
This collab centers around Celestia and Luna, and it shows about their harsh lives and how much they care about one another. This PMV is just filled with feelings, and emotions that I can even maybe cry. With the help of these amazing collaborators, this was an amazing piece of work, full of great visuals, animation, and typography. And surprisingly no use of show footage, which is awesome! So I hope all of you will check out this collab out and give a round of applause to these guys for working on this :D
I also want to say it’s such an honor being a author here on PMVToday, I always hoped that this site will come back. So until next time, you guys are awesome! *bro-hoof*
Looks like Gunca’s back! I didn’t realize how much I missed his work after EquestriaCollabs went off the radar.
Here’s a lovely carefree and chilled out mini-PMV with gorgeous visuals to boot. Despite the video barely scraping a minute in length, there’s quite a lot going on with motion graphics. Gunca always seems to find a way to make lighting look absolutely stunning, and it physically hurts me to think what his After Effects projects look like (That being said, have you SEEN Acleps edit?). The atmosphere created here is lighthearted, bubbly and just genuinely heartwarming.
It feels like the visuals take main stage here. Rather than focus on story, Gunca pursues the visual form and transforms it into pure art. It’s almost like the flow of the video carries you along with it. As if watching a fireworks display, the dazzling lights capture your eyesight and you keep watching in awe. It’s something I couldn’t hope to replicate yet have a lot of respect for. Also great news to hear that his talents have brought him work at a huge local company. To see editors springboard from the community into a successful career is nothing short of inspiring and I wish him the best of luck.
Hey guys. Really does feel great being able to review content for you on a consistent bassis, so lets keep the ball rolling.
Today’s PMV is Stay With Me by HarmonicWind. And as motion graphics PMV’s go, I find this refreshing. Although there’s obviously some influence from people like Acleps, there’s a lot of new stuff here too.
Love the integration of show clips inside the text. That part with dash in the dome was just stunning, and is a very complex effect to pull off. Fantastic use of 3d too. I recommend watching at 60fps too if possible, it’s incredibly smooth.
There’s no surprise it won the feel good category. And just like a feel good PMV should, it had me smiling by the end. This person needs way more subs than they currently have, so go give em some.

ANYWAY welcome back everybody it’s time to get the PMV train rolling again after our amazing contest at Bronycon! Check out the contest page up top to find the results for that, and over the next few weeks we’ll be posting all the incredible submissions that we received. Be sure to give them all lots of love for their hard efforts!
And today we have an especially fantastic collaboration between the famed editors of Ye Olde YouTube Lore. That’s right folks, everyone from Acleps to DeLoop has joined in on this fantastic celebration of our favorite little ponies. Sure it might lack a little focus other than the Mane crew and some general pony counterparts, but the effects are VERY SHINY, the transitions are fast and furious, and the song is well matched. Check it out below and let the gang over at the Collaboratory know what you think!
Hi, we’re PMVToday and we’ll post anything we can find. All jokes aside, you can pack quite a lot in to just 30 seconds of PMV, and this video proves that.
So today’s video is by I Blazer I, known for making short but snappy motion graphics heavy PMV’s. And to be honest, although this looks great, I feel there’s a lot of recycled ideas here. As much as I’m against the idea that all motion graphics PMV’s are the same, some parts of this video make it hard argue against that point. For example at 00:4 he clearly took inspiration from Acleps’ Dive Game PMV, and that’s just a start. I’m not going to point out every single recycled idea, because it did obviously take a lot of time and effort to make.
I like what the creator has done here, and it’s enjoyable to watch. I do feel they have a lot of potential, they just need to bring something new to the table.
Back again guys, and today we have a great PMV from Gunca. Now we don’t normally post unfinished PMVs, but this one seems to give an excellent atmosphere regardless.
Now the first thing you notice about this PMV is just how great the lighting effects are. And the shading on the backgrounds matches it perfectly. This is what gives this PMV that great atmosphere. The creator has used animation loops with stunning visuals to great effect. You don’t need to know much about editing to see that this video is absolutely beautiful.
The scenery seems to be composed in 3D space, which becomes evident when the camera moves around the scene. I love how the color overlay changes with the type of lighting used as well. For example in the first scene, at night the color is much cooler with a blue tint. But as the sun rises, it gradually changes to orange, to match the change from night sky to sun.
I think that’s the main selling point for this PMV, just how good the lighting is, and how well the style matches up to the song. Although I’m sure we would have preferred a full length PMV, what we have here is better than nothing.
Never played DMC. But hey, guns and swords and arcane stuff, how can you go wrong?
HWB has released a brand new full length vid for a song in celebration of some Devil May Cry news, and it’s just as dark and action-filled as I’d like it to be. One awesome thing that this shows is how even in the angry and evil sounding parts of the song, the focus is still on the good guys beating the bad guys. How do you do that and still make it work? Color correction.
And it’s a mighty fine change in tone and proper change in color when we hit the more holy part of the vid. The only thing that really annoys me about this is the inclusion of some in-show audio (and that probably only annoys me because of its association with subpar PMVs in general). But this is overall a fantastic piece of action, and everything fits like it should. Take a look below!
So here we have a really unique video based on Pinkie’s childhood emotions. It’s not often we get PMV’s that try to tell a custom narrative in their format. Usually, the presence of the song dictates everything about the video – but here HeavyWeaponsBaby has strived to tell a tale through visuals. And with the very limited footage of Pinkie’s childhood available, that really is impressive.
The story focuses on Pinkie dealing with Granny Pie’s death. As a child, her grandmother gave her a diary. Pinkie used it to draw pictures of her hopes and dreams, of making ponies smile. However, when Granny died she felt like giving up everything she had. She’d scribble over the pages and sink deeper into depression. When Maud attempted to comfort her she would get angry and refuse. Only through remembering the happy memories could she move forward and cherish her life.
How does a show footage PMV manage to do this? Visually, it overlays a lot of colour and bloom effects onto the clips to emphasize the atmosphere. Blue is often the cold, depressive colour and so the video uses a lot of overexposed tinting. Behind the effects, there’s quite a bit of custom editing in terms of masking and vectors. It’s done very convincingly, and the overlaid effects help to pull the scenes together.
What I like most about this video is the sheer creativity used to serve the story. Rather than being intimidated by the lack of available footage (especially when it comes to the specific scenes), the creator went ahead and did their best to visualize a narrative. The work shows and I have to commend it for that. Some of the effects don’t work as well as they could, but I still feel this is a breath of fresh air. Very well put together. Check it out below.
