Well howdy everybody, it seems like a lack of PMVs in the feed has led everyone here on a bit of a downer. So to get some more action flowing in, we’ve officially released a new After Effects tutorial for all of you AE users out there! If you’re interested in doing something new and shiny with a bit of a humorous flare, go down below and check it out.
This, along with other useful educational bits will be available in the tutorial section of the website. (Look at the top navigation bar!)
You know, happiness and sunshine and flowers doesn’t have to be the one-dimensional state of mind that we think it is. Unless you’re Derpy over there on the right, then maybe…
ANOTHER COLLABORATION PMV shows this concept in a wonderfully exemplary way. The song itself is rather happy with a few mixes of emotion coming in every now and then, but the editing keeps up with this perfectly and uses the happiness shown by each of our characters to flavor the entire piece.
Speaking of editing, we do get a lot of videos with fancy effects and sparkles, but it’s always worth noticing when there are edits done with quality. I’m not saying that big effects bring down the amount of quality, but it isn’t dependent on them. In this video, for example, we see a fabulously upbeat, speedy and lyric-matching edit in Tygr’s short part at the beginning. Things aren’t necessarily custom, but the “dominoes” line is constructed in such a manner that I just feel super excited watching it.
Pump yourself up when you go down below, and make sure to sub to all the awesome editors who contributed!
It’s just like our good mayor said, this stuff really does bring people from all walks of life together.
The same applies to collaborations!
Good evening every pony and welcome to another fabulous featuring of a fantastically frivolous work of art. The song is Runaway, but don’t do that quite yet until you’ve checked out this new collab! This particular piece features monumental effort from big names like Alanj2007, all the way to our very own Pixel3000Nerd.
Speaking of whom, it seems like the most noticeable part about this PMV was the timing of everyone’s parts. I’d say P3N’s style fits perfectly with the huge drop in the song when he comes in, and RDZX makes an incredible crescendo with his slightly shaken camera (and reference to G+). DaSpacePony gives us a proper and fitting relaxation using their own ‘spaced-out’ style and JackDC93, a contest judge this year, had the perfect atmosphere for the soloed vocals at his part.

Interesting little PMV we’ve got here today. By “The RayteR”, who’s only been around for about a month and is already doing pretty well.
The song itself isn’t really the type of song you see very often in PMV’s, but this guy seems to have pulled it off. The bright colors match the cheery theme. There’s a good choice of clips, and the visuals match up well with the lyrics. One thing that stands out is the slick motion graphics. Interesting use of bright cheerful colors, which feels somewhat summery.
If I were to criticize this video, I could say that the lip sync was a little off in some scenes. The typography could use some work, especially in the first scenes where the text color makes it difficult to read. The color correction is a little inconsistent, and the glow is too strong, which washes out the original footage, but other than that, this is a pretty good video.
Overall I’d say it’s quite a pretty PMV. It’s enjoyable to watch and there isn’t a visual overload. So props to The RayteR, and I hope to see more content from him in the near future.
Ya know, I’ve always really disliked Spike as a character.
So drop what you’re doing and listen up, because this new one by Stellafera will change everything you thought you knew (maybe) about the purple pair . First answer: No, it is not a shipping PMV. It’s really just a fantastic journey through the relationship of two wonderfully interwoven characters. Heck, one might say it’s pretty “d’awwwn cute!” *Badum Tss*
The video not only recounts the times the two adventured throughout Equestria together, but it shows their failures in the show and how they pick themselves up. All of the editor’s scenes really tie in literally with the lyrics and show just how much Panic!’s words relate to what’s going on. It’s a story about everlasting friendship, shared failures and victories, and at the end there’s a beginning. And of course, Stella tells it best below!
Equestria is certainly a ‘wonderful world’ until you consider the amount of explosions, mythological carnivores, and traveling salesmen it contains. Yikes.
Luckily, we’re here on earth, with the internet, so that we can view this lovely video by an editor who was long thought to be eaten by a traveling salesman from Equestria. TheLightLeavesThee returns in an epic and super-dramatic PMV that really puts a new perspective on our fantastic fiction of frivolous horses.
One of my favorite parts of this video is indeed how TLLT puts a spin on the classic land of ponies. But another is how he used the epic finale scenes from the show and how he balanced those with effects and showed constraint. It’s easy for everyone to shove in their favorite scenes from FiM along with their favorite song. However, this video starts with smaller scenes and crescendos into the big ones, which really helps build an epic sense of progression. This is an important thing to learn if you plan on doing pony music videos of your own one day, and this particular piece is something worth looking at carefully.

Sword Art Online and Ponies. Yes! Today, I bring you a PMV based of the anime series “Sword Art Online”. The video parodies the opening of the series and it fits really well. The transitions and custom animations are impressive. It represents SAO’s concept very well with the ‘next-gen, futuristic, virtual gaming’ style.
