Loyalty by The White Piano Key Productions

Today I have some awesome typography for you guys. This was actually entered in the PMV contest for BronyCon, but sadly didn’t place. Don’t let that deter you, though, ’cause it is great.

Loyalty is probably one of the most iconic songs in the brony fandom, and this editor definitely does it justice. The editing is fast-paced to match the song, and captures the spirit of the music very well. The graphics flow together very well, and of course there is a lot of Rainbow Dash.

Apparently White Piano Key made this over a year ago, but only uploaded it recently. Though there are a few things I would have changed (namely, the bits with Rainbow and Soarin, which I don’t feel fit the overall theme of friendship), it is still a lot of fun, and leaves you feeling good.

Darkest Part by WICKED is good

Twilight Sparkle represents friendship and all that but I bet she’d be an even better princess of the dark arts.  #JustSayin

As for today we have a rare gem from the long pages of YouTube search results that typically yield subpar videos.  This next one is somewhat heavy on effects and looks pretty dark, but at the same time it uses all of those effects rather properly and assigns those emotions in perfect accordance to the song.

Not only do we get some kick-flank distortion and typography, but the main focus of these effects is the awesome chromakeying that fills the transitions and speeds up the whole thing.  It makes the video seem like a thrill ride rather than a presentation, and it just works so well where implemented.  The complaints I had with this were the Hub logos and the fact that pastel horses still look a bit funny trying to scream.  But otherwise, my compliments to the editor and y’all should definitely give it a view or two below!

More Than A Feeling by willygilligan815

All this Spike love recently has got me feeling like he might be a legitimate character actually worth developing and being interested in.

Nah.

But today we do bring you a “Rarity” if you will, in the world of PMVs.  There is almost never a time where somebody’s first PMV is legitimately good, and even now I doubt that this was the editor’s absolute first.  But going off of what the YouTube description says, this video is indeed a first timer and it is certainly fair.

The best part is its simple style and storytelling, which we are beginning to see a lot more often in the scene.  The effects are used when necessary, such as a color filter to represent a flashback or dream.  But they aren’t too much in the way, which is always good.  The story itself rolls along with the song and is essentially a love story for the purple couple above.  But I’ll let you figure out the whole thing below!

Lullaby for a Princess by WarpOut

Untitled

Honestly, this is perhaps the best animation this fandom has ever produced.

Two years in the making, this animation focuses on the story of the two princesses. We see the tale of Luna’s banishment from Celestia’s perspective, and it is undeniably beautiful. Words are almost not enough to praise the sheer artistry of this creation. The style is gorgeous, the animation is outstanding, there’s a perfect use of ambient lighting and the emotional depth is staggering. The overall production value rivals that of large-scale animation companies. Considering the majority of this was created by one unpaid individual as a labor of love, the results are absolutely mind-blowing.

Even from an editor’s perspective, I can respect the amount of hard work, dedication and effort that this project must have took. While it may currently be spreading around like wildfire, I believe WarpOut deserves every single ounce of praise he gets. If he doesn’t get any career opportunities or the chance to advance his profession due to this, the world would be suffering a great injustice. Truly awesome.

Centuries by xindit

Hmm, this song sounds strangely similar…

Never mind that, it’s time for a new rendition of the hit by Fall Out Boy, and this time a little simpler with an entirely different theme.  I just love how people can take the same song, same available content, and turn it all into something entirely new without necessarily having to use effects to exaggerate that difference.  And in this new piece, we also see some fan content thrown in!

“How is it different?” you ask?  Well my friends, it’s quite simple.  In the traditional thought of many in the fandom, Centuries’ message and lyrics could apply boldly and only to T. Sparklez and the crew.  They would be remembered positively for their victories over the villains.  However, in this video, we see some spotlight shed on Sunset Shimmer, who the editor seems to imply, will be remembered for centuries because she kind of turned into a demon in the previous movie and that ain’t something that really just slips your mind.

The PMV does focus on other villains though, and it seems to be a theme that can apply to a wide variety of characters.  xindit’s take is one of a kind, so you should check it out below!

Ready to fight by VictiniStar101

Hello everypony, bringing you with another PMV. This one is made by VictiniStar101. It focuses on all the mane six, representing and showcasing their friendship as they fight evil. The editing here is neatly done and fits the song which is a beautiful, heroic-type song. A few experimentation that the creator tried with the color filters/effects makes it stand out more.
