2Rainbow Vegas Pro 11 PMV Template settings
So...
I've made a few PMV's which I think are ok for a newb. Are there any recommended template settings for the projects when the source media is from the show? (1080) Ultimately everything is bound for YouTube, though there are other streaming options as well so I'd like to keep the quality as high as possible and just render as needed.

BTW - any rendering settings are also welcome

Sorry if this (these) is (are) a dumb question(s).

Thanks!

RE: Vegas Pro 11 PMV Template settings
I'm a newbie as well so anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd recommend working with the show's specifications if you're working on a PMV which heavily or moderately relies on show footage (so 1080 or 1280 depending on your quality and 23.97 fps) so that you don't get any fps problems, like screen tearing or stuff that might happen. If you want to go for something with lots of motion, I'd recommend going for 29.97 or even 60 (or 59.97 with a drop frame, i'm not sure which is better) since lowish framerate + motion = bleh.

Try to render the highest quality you can, such as AVI or something, then use a converter like the Adobe media encoder or handbrake with specific settings for youtube. This means you can reach Youtube's potential of quality while not having to upload 3gbs of video for youtube to figure out.

Also, there's no such thing as a dumb question, these programs are very technical and it's pretty much impossible to learn without some form of help.

Cheers C:

Thanks for the info.

The dumb question thing is sort of a defense mechanism. Sometimes I'll get the "RTFFAQ's!!" And then I already feel unwelcome and defensive.
The web can be kind of nasty at times.

Between what you shared and what I found out below, hopefully we'll have some good setup info.
I'll try to take some screen shots and post them. I'd put up more detailed info but I'm working on an Applespark ship video to go with my fimfiction piece.

I'd like to see a structure here that has a heading for each editing package out there-

One for Creative Suite, one for After Effects, one for Vegas Pro, etc., where users can share tips with others that are unique to their program.

Anyway - I found out some info that may help you as well-

for Vegas Pro anyway here are some settings that were recommended to me:
It's in my shorthand and if you need any additional clarification let me know-

Temp hhdv 720-30p (1280x720, 29.970. Fps)
Field None (prog. Scan)
Pixel 1.0000
Pixel format 8 bt
Full-res render Best

Motion Gaussian
De Interlace None

Audio
Sample 192
Bit 24
Resamplle Best

Render
Clck clp
Switches
Disable re-sample

Place. Cursor at end. Of media
Main concept Avc/aac. Mp4
Internet 1080p then customize template
Frame rate Select hd720 or 1080
Profile. High
Frame 29.9. (Show is at 24)
Field None
Variable bit rate
Max 10,000,000
Avg 4,000,000
Click system. Tab then hit check cpu OpenCL if. Avail

Audio
Bit rate 192000

Hope this is helpful-

Have a great week and thanks!
(Oh and a healthy and happy new year as well)

RE: Vegas Pro 11 PMV Template settings
Well for AE I'm a bit hypocritical heh I don't render in lossless before converting to youtube, I render straight in:

Video: h.264, mp4
Level 4.20
Bitrate: 6-10+ depending on what I'm rendering

Audio: AAC, 128kbps.

That's all I really change / check, but I'm sure I could be doing things much better by following my own advice Moustache
