Hey everyone! The results of the 2016 BronyCon PMV Contest have now been published to the site! Check them out here!
What’s up everyone? I would like to apologise on behalf of the site for the inactivity as of late. Life gets in the way sometimes, and you just lose track of time, y’know? Anyway, I’m back with another great PMV from the BronyCon PMV contest. This video won 3rd place in the Feel Good category. Let’s take a look, shall we?
In this PMV, Twilight Sparkle casts a spell and summons thousands of ladybugs. What’s not to love about that? The song choice is fun, the animation is fitting and well-executed, and it certainly made a lot of people smile at the contest panel and at home as well. That’s a recipe for success!
Littleshy is a talented editor who deserves all the fandom points he has. This was a really nice video and I’m excited for what Littleshy has in store for us next!
Hey this is daspacepony again! Today we have another feature from the BronyCon PMV Contest, it is “Riptide” by chocalicorn and it got First Place in the Feel Good category which definitely lives up to its status! I remember watching it for the first time and started dancing to the music and singing. The song is really catchy indeed and the perfect cuts added to the PMV’s lovely rhythm and style.
The typography is sufficient and not overbearing, coming up at just the right times. Creatively used to excite the viewer when it is appropriate.
There isn’t really an overarching story throughout the PMV, but instead it has the perfect scenes come up with the right lyrics that makes this really enjoyable to watch! The lightweight, casual feel is perhaps the best part about the PMV. With all the heavily glitchy action packed PMVs that are appearing recently, this lovely piece softens it up by keeping it simple and relaxed.
Lady, running down to the riptide~
Destiny | daspacepony (PMV Contest Best In Show)
It’s been a while.
Hi everyone, TheLightLeavesThee here, and I have been bestowed the honor of writing about the Best In Show winner of the recent BronyCon PMV contest.
(and by bestowed, I meant I saw the list of videos and exclaimed “MINEMINEMINE I WILL WRITE ABOUT THI-” *cough*)
So, this video here is called Destiny, and it’s by the amazingly talented and super underappreciated “Daspacepony.”
And let me tell you. This video didn’t really help my Post Con Depression after BronyCon was over.
Destiny is the kind of video you don’t realize how truly amazing it is until multiple viewings, but holy hell, this video gets to me. Every time I watch it I feel something. I don’t get that too often from the PMV Community anymore. I’m glad to see some people still pride themselves in making me feel like crying into my popcorn (you jerks.)
So from a technical standpoint, it’s solid, good cuts and editing throughout with little details here and there to keep things fresh. Excellent pacing throughout as well, using just the right moments from the show at just the right time, with nothing ever quite feeling like “filler.” I like the bits of motion graphics at the end, incredibly smooth and well done, not to mention a way to pad out the ending with emotional impact that again, does not feel like filler.
I want more videos like this from our community, guys, videos with meaning, passion and heart put into them. I haven’t felt so strongly in love with a PMV like this since “The Stars Will Aid In Her Escape.”
It’s THAT good guys. Watch it if you haven’t already.
Hey guys! BronyCon is over and we all had a good time :) Today we are starting to post all of the winners for the PMV Contest, and we are starting of with our First Place Winner for Action, HanZh! This was absolutely amazing with Great Visuals and the way he used the clips and made it look like it was some kinda of Action Film, now that’s what I like :) And that ending part with the voice overs and sound effects, that was really cool. So Awesome Job to HanZh and Congratulations to him for winning First Place!
(also, running is a viktory x3)
Hey guys, I’m back with another PMV made by the great Sambohh :)
After years of editing experience and making a bunch of collab parts, Sam has finally made his first solo PMV. And must I say, he did an amazing job! It did great with starting off all calm and it really starts to build up at the end, with very nice clip selection and great lip-syncing. My favorite part was the clips matted with the text and Twilight falling down into the Crystal Mines. And all of that action going on at the end of the video was amazing as well. So great job to Sam, and I can’t wait for what he will do next :D
(Also BronyCon is almost here! #HYPE)
Hello everyone! You’ve probably seen this already, but heck, I’m going to write a post on this video anyway!
Hosted by The Collaboratory, this is their newest PMV collab to Down the Road by C2C. It focuses primarily on Applejack and the rest of her family. The colours are warm and the parts flow together nicely. Even the little things throughout this video are continuous, like the camera flash leading from Jack DC 93’s part into TheAcleps’, the cutie mark that shows up in the same spot in my part that is in the same spot as AJ getting her cutie mark in TheLightLeavesThee’s part, TheeLinker using pieces of other parts for when the song glitches out, and daspacepony used a similar scene of the barn at the end of the video that Littleshy did at the beginning. Everything in this is all really well done! Lots of collabs released nowadays are either hit or miss, but this one does not disappoint!
Watch it below!
Hey all! Sorry that we haven’t been posting for a while. Lack of support and a slowdown of PMV releases have been sort of chipping at our morale. We’re still alive and kickin’ though! Here’s a PMV collab that’s a few weeks old, but still nice and fresh— the members of which include our own SoundoftheWaves, Soniccrew128, Sambohh, and Chocalicorn; and DealFire. It’s set to arguably the most emotional song by Avicii, “Waiting for Love.” The style of this collaboration reflects most PMVs in the past year or so, focusing more on its individual parts instead of an over-arcing theme. Other types of themed PMVs are making a comeback, but while we “wait for our love,” this is a great and flashy PMV with typography, effects, custom scenes/graphics, and more. If you’re into that, be sure to give it a looksie. Until next time, folks, peace!
(leave a comment if you’re hyped for our BronyCon PMV contest!!)
Hello everyone! Here we have a nice new PMV from Limey Lassen. This video is a rather simple one, but by no means is that a bad thing. In fact, it’s a nice breath of fresh air from the large amount of collabs coming from the community these days. I wish we had more like it, but I digress.
The scene selection in this video is spot-on, I really liked how Limey would pay attention to things like having the moon in one shot in the same place as the sun in another shot, and so on. My one criticism of this is that the pace could be a tad bit faster, but that all comes down to personal preference. All in all, this is a really great video. Watch it below!
Today I have a brand spankin’ new PMV for you all, from our own Soniccrew. Now, I’m not posting this just because he’s here; he’s here because he’s good, and I’m posting this because he’s good. This is a Rarity PMV, with a major focus of her and her cutie mark. There are shakes and glitches everywhere, which is timed perfectly with the music. I hadn’t really realized what I’ve been missing in PMVs recently, until I saw this one. There’s one focus and theme; the style changes over time, but it’s still unified over time. Plus, the soundtrack is to die for, it’s so beautiful in its glitchy, scratchy French funk goodness. If you don’t have photosensitive epilepsy, give this video a shot, it’s great.
