Rainbow Dash – Adrenaline by RainbowSlashLP

Happy Thursday guys!

I will come out and say that Rainbow Dash isn’t my favourite pony, she isn’t really even on my list. But I have to admit that this PMV was very well done. All the clips that RainbowSlashLP used fit very well to the music, and I was very happy to see some effects used. While these effects weren’t anything crazy, they really did all that they had to do. There were a couple scenes where RainbowSlashLP attempted to put Rainbow singing the lyrics, and they came out looking very good. I really only have positive comments about this PMV.

Nopony’s Alive by Jiutti

Hello again everyone. Dae314 here reviewing an uncharacteristically dark PMV for you all today. Maybe this will be a breath of polluted, toxic air for you after all those sickeningly happy PMVs that have been posted recently. Jiutti‘s choice of song–“115” by Elena Siegman, which some of you may remember from Call of Duty: World at War–is an odd choice for a PMV in my opinion, but Jiutti makes it work. Before we get too far into the review, I just want to mention a quick warning: Jiutti uses a flashing effect during certain scenes that flashes at about 200 flashes per minute. There is no seizure warning in the video so I mention this just in case anybody is sensitive to flashing at that frequency.

So for those of you left after that little warning, please sit back and try not to lose your soul as you stare into the void. Jiutti has done a wonderful job editing together all of the darkest, most action packed sections of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The intro to the video kicks off with Luna’s transformation into Nightmare Moon done to one of the most appropriate video effects I’ve ever seen. Props to Jiutti for the creative use of mirrored equalizer animations on the top and bottom of the screen that serve to frame the transformation sequence. During the introduction it is quite powerful, but as the effect gets reused throughout the video some of the initial effect is lost. I personally find the screen flashing and occasional text on the screen a little annoying, but to others it may be a nice touch. As we move through the video, we visit pretty much every major villain in the MLP:FiM series from Nightmare Moon to Queen Chrysalis to King Sombra to Discord. In a brilliant editing decision, Jiutti saves the vanquishing sequences for the end of his video. This is a great decision for two reasons–first, it darkens the mood of the video. If Jiutti resolved each villain conflict as it was brought up the overall tone of the video would jump confusingly between dark and light. The second reason is because Jiutti ends everything on a lighter note. This is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic after all. We can’t just leave things hanging by dark threads. So without further delay, please enjoy “Nopony’s Alive” by Jiutti.

Revival by John Sheppard

Happy Friday night to all!

What? A dubstep PMV? Now you’re talking my language.

First off, huge congrats to John Sheppard on the 400 subs!

I have seen it countless times, a PMV opening with the story of Celestia and Luna/Nightmare Moon. Yet, for some reason it really works for this PMV. The vocals of the song are very deep and enchanting, almost like they are fit to be playing in the back of a story such as this. I am also a huge fan of the simple back transitions seen throughout the video, they add the dark feeling that the song so desires.

Come the drop of the song, I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw. A lot of the time scenes that are used for dubstep songs are too drawn out, and don’t really fit with the actually noise. This on the other hand works very well, I can see that John really took the time to look for scenes that fit the part of the song. My only big recommendation is to watch for scenes that are to quick. I saw it a couple times and it kinda killed the moment. The biggest one that I saw was at 0:56 with the shot of Fulltershy. But other than that I thought this PMV came out spectacular!

If you got a sec make sure to drop by John Sheppard’s channel and congrats him on his 400 subs!

Couldn’t You Just Simply Die by Terriccota Pie

Happy Friday night to all!

Tonight we bring you a dark, creepy PMV done by the elusive Terriccota Pie. The PMV was done to the very cool, very eerie song Couldn’t You Just Simply Die by General Mumble. It used scenes from past episodes and seasons, as well as a few scenes from the newest season 4 episodes. The use of filters and effects fit the PMV almost perfectly. At times it felt like the use of distortion and speed tampering was a bit much, but that may just be me. Either way, I very much enjoyed this PMV, and hope you do as well.
