Down the Road hosted by The Collaboratory

Hello everyone! You’ve probably seen this already, but heck, I’m going to write a post on this video anyway!

Hosted by The Collaboratory, this is their newest PMV collab to Down the Road by C2C.  It focuses primarily on Applejack and the rest of her family.  The colours are warm and the parts flow together nicely.  Even the little things throughout this video are continuous, like the camera flash leading from Jack DC 93’s part into TheAcleps’, the cutie mark that shows up in the same spot in my part that is in the same spot as AJ getting her cutie mark in TheLightLeavesThee’s part, TheeLinker using pieces of other parts for when the song glitches out, and daspacepony used a similar scene of the barn at the end of the video that Littleshy did at the beginning.  Everything in this is all really well done!  Lots of collabs released nowadays are either hit or miss, but this one does not disappoint!

How Applejack Won The War by Corpse Run Comics

AJWAR

Hello strangers! DeLoop’s back again, trudging through the PMV drought to bring you whippersnappers something to sink your teeth into. Don’t forget there’s a little under 2 weeks to submit your entries to our contest, by the way! We’re excited to see more entries from you guys.

Today I thought I’d feature an animation based on a song from the classic parody series “Friendship Is Witchcraft”. And man, it sure is hilariously dark. The animation certainly brings a whimsical charm to the original song, based on Applejack being a ruthless soldier and leading a war. There’s just something distinctly hilarious about the combination of lighthearted MLP and serious dark undertones. I guess that’s part of the reason I love FiW’s songs so much.

The art style and animation is great. It has a cartoon nature about it that works well. It’s not perfect and I’m not blown away by it, but it’s pretty good nonetheless. I especially enjoyed the musical elements that the animation played to, even incorporating some PMV elements throughout. It’s a fun little musical parody, one that we don’t get nearly enough of. I’d love to see more original animations in this style.

Ruminate on your crimes below.

Pony Soda by DownburstProductions

Hello guys and gals! Today I bring you with a really cool PMV with a Shawn Wasabi song. If you know me, you know that I mostly like and watch PMVs with motion graphics and cool effects, but everyonce in a while I like to see some simple neat PMVs. This is one of them, and it’s great. With only using clips, no filters or effects, the editor here has arranged and synchronized each clip with the song. The silly sound effects in the music that Shawn Wasabi has created with his MIDI fighter, Downburst also added it’s own bits and clips of silly moments of the ponies which makes the video really fun to watch. Go watch the PMV down below!

All I Ever Wanted by Eldonde

Lack of Egyptian ponies in this fandom?  I think so.  Click that image and follow the deviantArt if you so desire more!

As for this PMV, we have a stunning ponification of a song from The Prince of Egypt.  In the story of this, Applejack plays the part of a prince who runs from his true past and tries to rest assured that they are content with what they have.  Of course, AJ ends up finding some nasty business going down and has to be reassured by her “mother”, Granny Smith.

We often find ourselves dabbling over quality in visual stimulus, and it’s easy to see this is no particularly perfect pearl of a pony video.  Frame rate drops as though one were playing Skyrim at full graphics and it doesn’t flow particularly nicely because of that.  Also, those vignetted portraits imply a supremely strict literal interpretation which can sometimes look a bit too forced.

Overall, lovely clips and great job of sticking to story lining.  Look below to find Applejack being a princess! (lol, irony)

The Grey by metalsystem761

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all having a good weekend so far. I’ve been attempting to do some film editing for class, but the lack of candy coloured equines has distracted me. Go figure.

Anyway, today we’re bringing you a emotional PMV focusing on inner turmoil and redemption. This PMV seems to use a variety of characters such as Luna, Applejack and Discord to highlight the dramatic impact of the song. I have to give praise for the scene selection used here, their choices really do compliment the lyrics. Speaking of lyrics, The use of text on screen is decent – it’s an extra element that further exaggerates the emotion. The transition effects seemed forced at some points, but for the most part it works. If the creator develops and improves it in future videos, it could become quite an interesting style for them.

I do quite like how the video lets the clips breathe a bit in terms of pacing. When editing to music it’s important to know how long to hold a clip. Do you cut to the rhythm or to the emotion? Here, the emotion takes priority and so we get a chance to sympathize with the characters. Overall, this is a nice solid PMV that strives and achieves the atmosphere of the song. Check it out below.

Lana Del Dre by SnowT

The month of Hearts And Hooves starts early today folks!  While this isn’t exactly my OTP, how can you deny two adorable little ponies in love?

Regardless of your preferences and views on shipping, it’s time to take a look at an awesome PMV that might even change your mind about which ponies pair perfectly.  This video is all about the AppleDash and has a large amount of custom animation elements in it.  Now hold your horses, the custom stuff isn’t the highest quality we’ve seen, but we should all know that the work put into it is massive.  You might slightly cringe at first, but the cuteness of everything will enhance the animation as you keep watching!

On effects, this scores an A+.  There are a lot of different effects here, but somehow SnowT manages to make them all fit with each other.  We also get a really nice atmosphere due to the rewinding of scenes in the first half and some really involved transitions. My favorite is probably the zooming into an eye, followed by a bubble view.  That particular effect has been done a few times in PMVs, but this one takes the cake for my favorite instance of it.

Grab yourself some AppleDash and get ready for a major drama bomb at the end!

Sisters by ObbsesiveBookworm

Sisters. A very nice PMV by ObbsessiveBookworm. Happy and colorful, featuring the sisters from the show. This video has some great scenes both sad and happy moments of the sisters we know. No matter what happens, they will always be together. The song track for this is very fitting and beautiful and matches every clip in the editing of this. It’s really nice to see a PMV dedicated to the sisters, and this is one of them.

Applejack Rides a Balloon to Space by Companioncube64

mlp___space_sparkly_applejack_by_xcommanderhurricanex-d7qc2dv

In space, no one can hear you…apple? I don’t know.

Anyway, today’s video combines some of my most favorite things in the world: Science, Space, and Applejack. Even though I am a college graduate, and for the foreseeable future am done with schools, I will never stop learning. So informative little bits of science like this are a welcome treat, especially when they involve ponies. There’s something relatively calming, not to mention awe-inspiring, about the view from the weather balloon shepherding AJ to the edge of the atmosphere, and the classical score accentuates the majesty of this endeavor. And of course, the music slows down during the rapid descent to perfectly capture the mood. I can’t lie, my heart sank a little bit. Apple pony belongs to the stars now. Well, anyway…

Here at PMVToday our goal is to bring you the latest and greatest in Pony Videos, which is to say we not only intend to entertain but also to stimulate. And we hope this little piece of brain food mixed with pony has satisfied your daily thirst for knowledge. Oh wait. Brain food wouldn’t help with thirst, would it? I guess, brain…lemonade, maybe? Brain smoothie? No, that sounds gross. Well, at any rate, enjoy the show!
