This Is Not The End (Twilight & Spike) by Jiutti-Senpai

If you haven’t gotten your dose of feels, this right here will probably give it to you. This is a pretty tough video (and subject) to write about, so bear with me.

The bonds of Twilight and Spike are well established through canon. They are practically like mother and son, and yet also best friends. The idea of one outlasting the other has certainly been explored before, but usually from the perspective of the comparatively short lifespan of ponies vs. dragons. This might have been allayed by the assumed lifespan immortality of Twilight upon becoming a princess, but what if just lifespan wasn’t the issue. What if life was the issue. If one knew the other was soon to depart ahead of schedule. How would they handle it. Is knowing the end is near really the end, or just the beginning?

Both depressing and yet uplifting, this video is worth the emotional roller coaster. The editing style does a good job of complimenting the very somber yet positive outlook of the song. Personally I would have liked to have seen a cohesive story,  there was some legibility issues with the text color, and the pixel motion effect used near the end bugged me, but overall it’s still a well edited video that is worth a watch!

Sisters by ObbsesiveBookworm

Sisters. A very nice PMV by ObbsessiveBookworm. Happy and colorful, featuring the sisters from the show. This video has some great scenes both sad and happy moments of the sisters we know. No matter what happens, they will always be together. The song track for this is very fitting and beautiful and matches every clip in the editing of this. It’s really nice to see a PMV dedicated to the sisters, and this is one of them.

Together by SpectraPony

It is undeniable that Foozogz is a talented pony musician. Hence, I am proud to present a PMV on Foozogz’s lively track, Together.

This PMV is undoubtedly brilliant in its own way as it manages to capture the theme of the song accurately and the transitions between the various scenes were smooth. The video uses a shorter version of the song, which I personally feel is a clever choice as it is easier to work with and a greater impact could be delivered within the short period of time.

The spilt screen effect worked for me as well, and the PMV does not seem repetitive in the slightest. For all this, I would have to say that this is a PMV with a nice dosage of effects and it truly portrays the postitive vibe that you get when you listen to the original song. Check it out below!

No Matter What, We’re Friends by Racecarghost1

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Racecarghost has worked with a bunch of voice actors to create an original song with a stunning PMV as well. This is one of the most impressive projects relating to PMVs that I’ve seen so far, and it looked like it turned out well.

As always, this seemed like another one of those amazing Japanese-styled PMVs and the melodious voices of the VAs blend in nicely with the video. From what I’ve seen, there is custom animation as well, so it’s definitely worth checking out!

On a side note, for those of you who don’t know, updates to the site are frequently posted on our official Twitter page, so be sure to follow us for updates there. Have a nice weekend everyone and check out this brilliant PMV below!

La Da Dee by TheeLinker ft. Heir-of-Rick

Now that BronyCon 2014 has drawn to a close, and we’ve all had a moment to wind down after all the excitement, I’d like to share one of my personal convention highlights: Seeing this amazing work of art winning Best In Show at the 2nd Annual PMV Today Video Contest Results Show. By the way, super-huge thanks to all of the attendees that made the panel a rousing success. But on to the real star of the show, this video. This was submitted to the “Feel Good” category in our contest, but the esteemed judges determined that this video’s unique visual presentation deserved greater recognition, and I felt compelled to agree. There’s a certain air of whimsy here that I found very refreshing, with the little finger puppet style in the vein of Paper Mario, combined with the bright, happy attitude brought by the music. The only complaint anyone would possibly have is that the sub-one-minute length is not nearly enough awesomeness. But the good news is that this was apparently only a shortened version of a much longer planned project, so keep an eye on TheeLinker’s Youtube channel for the updated version. And while you’re there, be sure to check out the other work he has produced.

Also, check out PMV Today’s channel as well to see all the other winning videos from the Contest. Seriously. Do it. They’re all great.
