I love how there are enough action scenes from throughout the show to make a PMV that looks like it came from a pure action cartoon. It just goes to show that the series has something for everybody. This video has a really great flow to it, aided by some fast paced zooming and cut away transitions. I also liked the masked out transparent Chrysalis playing on top of of one of the scenes. A small amount of well placed typography serve to punctuate the most important lyrics.
Sometimes the contents of a video are exactly what it says on the tin, in this case some badass video effects. The author was able to make some radical changes to the environment in several of the scenes, from the time of day to the weather, using only video FX. There is also some neat energy aura effects for each character that makes the scene look like something right out of DragonballZ. Finally, the Pièce de résistance is the real-flame flaming Twilight, very cool!
Today’s PMV features some sweet music by Echelon that would make Vinyl Scratch proud. The video itself does some cool things with the shaky-cam effect, and I also liked the scenes where the vectors of each character fly in over their own little splash of background. There is a ton of great Brony music out there, so I’m always glad when someone turns one of the songs into a PMV.
Another hilarious comedy video for you this fine day. Some great references in this one: classic Freakazoid, psycho Pinkie Pie, awesome Fluttershy as Tom Cruise, and more! Even the Simpsons get ponified for a scene. Honestly I’m surprised there aren’t more Pony Simpsons videos, since we all know that whatever joke you can come up with, the Simpsons already did it at some point.
The author of this video reached back into the ancient times of 1970 in order to ponify this song. Really great use of multiple scenes shown at the same time, with the individual videos synched to the music and even having their own transitions. Also liked how behind each rotate transition there was a different nice piece of artwork as the background.
We’ve got a nice long comedy video for you today. If you’re familiar with WKUK then you know what you are in for. You can tell that massive amounts of time was spent painstakingly lip synching all 20+ minutes of the video to the dialog. A lot of the sketches are very funny, and it’s always humorous to see the characters we know and love cast in ways you would never expect.
Here’s a video focusing on a background pony we haven’t had before: Featherweight the photographer. The author of this video does an amazing job of making you feel like you are following the action from behind a camera. Little details like imitating the camera auto-focus and changing the zoom and brightness meters to match what is going on in the video are a great touch. How does Featherweight manage to be everywhere at once anyway, is he a ninja? Or maybe he’s just been taking physics breaking lessons from Pinkie.
Weezer has been inspiring people to be themselves for years, so it’s only natural that it would get crossed with ponies eventually. This particular song is a perfect fit for the scene where Twilight and her friends crash the snobby rich ponies party, and this video uses it very well. The whole video features a nice selection of scenes and I like the use of Scootaloo face→piano.
Wow, this video has got it all! Awesome use of masked out ponies, super fast paced but perfectly timed transitions, integrated lyrics, nice use of changing the overall color to fit the mood, and many more effects. It even includes some truly epic fanart, which compliment the overall feel of the video instead of feeling out of place. This is one of those videos that really makes you want to learn all of the techniques in After Effects.
If you are feeling down, there is no better medicine than a good PMV! This is a video that will make you smile, plain and simple. The scene selection includes many of the most cheerful parts of the show, and they are matched to the song lyrics quite well. More evidence that songs by Owl City, especially this one, are a perfect fit for ponies.
