Lullaby for a Princess by WarpOut

Untitled

Honestly, this is perhaps the best animation this fandom has ever produced.

Two years in the making, this animation focuses on the story of the two princesses. We see the tale of Luna’s banishment from Celestia’s perspective, and it is undeniably beautiful. Words are almost not enough to praise the sheer artistry of this creation. The style is gorgeous, the animation is outstanding, there’s a perfect use of ambient lighting and the emotional depth is staggering. The overall production value rivals that of large-scale animation companies. Considering the majority of this was created by one unpaid individual as a labor of love, the results are absolutely mind-blowing.

Even from an editor’s perspective, I can respect the amount of hard work, dedication and effort that this project must have took. While it may currently be spreading around like wildfire, I believe WarpOut deserves every single ounce of praise he gets. If he doesn’t get any career opportunities or the chance to advance his profession due to this, the world would be suffering a great injustice. Truly awesome.

We Need a Little Hearthswarming by DagaYemar

merry_christmas_ponies_by_christinies-d4kggxf

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it (aw heck, Merry Christmas to you folks who don’t, too)! What better way to celebrate Jesus’ birth than by watching ponies? That’s right, forget the presents… forget those mince pies your grandma baked… this is pony time, and it’s serious.

So have an awesome Christmas PMV from our consistent and talented musical-ponifying guru, DagaYemar. I never fail to enjoy his lip-sync videos, and the casting and scene choices in this one are a delight, as always. Pinkie Pie as Santa was a stroke of pure brilliance. So check it out below, and then get back to playing with your new toys, stuffing your face with turkey, spinning your dreidels, calling forth dark spirits from the nether, or whatever it is you like to do on December 25th… maybe watch more ponies! But I can’t help you there, because I’m about to go caroling. You’ll have to do your own homework to find more great PMVs today.

…Lazy.

La Vie Boheme by Eldonde

Anyone like Rent? No not that thing you have to pay every month, the musical! I admit to not having seen it myself, but it definitely seems quite enjoyable. This particular song is extremely amusing, and while I can’t remark too much on how close the character matching is to the ones from the play, they are at least done consistently to the singers and with a lot of great scene matching. The timing and lip synching is also impressively done.

Make sure to check out the authors channel  for lots of other great Rent songs ponified!

My Little Starship: Kick It Up A Notch by Stellafera

pony_trek_5_by_herostrain-d60d40i

This Wednesday’s PMV is inspired by a musical called Starship. I’ve never seen the musical myself, but after watching this video, I am immediately inspired to find it and watch it as soon as possible. I would never admit it to anyone else but you, but I sorta have a weakness for show tunes… and the tune in this video is pretty great. Show tunes and ponies really do go together smashingly, and the lip-syncing and character assignment in this particular piece are pretty stellar, pun intended. The split-screen duet bits near the end are especially impressive and enjoyable.

It’s a Good Day to Die by Kiwipoo

pony_wars_by_slifertheskydragon-d4kz6y7

Courage. Duty. Honor.

Do those words remind you of ponies? Well everything should remind you of ponies, so I hope you say yes, even if you’re tempted to attribute them first to a Call of Duty or Medal of Honor game… or… Courage the Cowardly Dog. Our ponies are certainly courageous and dutiful and honorific, though! They’ve got it in spades, and nothing illustrates that better than this inspiring little musical-style call-to-arms song and its accompanying video.

The PMV is well edited and a lot of fun, and gives the viewer a nice patriotic feel towards Equestria (if only OUR countries were run by Pony Princesses, but don’t get me started on that). So check out the video below, and then swing by Kiwipoo’s channel to subscribe or leave a comment!

Gotta Dance Gotta Whistle Gotta Sing by BramGroatFilms

pinkie_pie_music_performance___by_mi0724go-d60r4vp

We’ve got a simple and silly one for you tonight! This song from The Magic Adventures of Mumfie: the Movie fits Pinkie Pie like a chicken hat, and frankly, I’m surprised no one has made the connection before. Major props to the author for having such a great idea and following through with it. It’s not flashy or heavily edited at all, but does it need to be? I say no. It is quite entertaining as is, especially when the narrator comes in midway through. I found myself chuckling and smiling like a goon at a couple parts.

Holy Musical Friendship: Super Friends by Stellafera

the_batmare___by_overmare-d5piw21

What do you get when you cross Batman, cheesy, Broadway style music, and My Little Pony? This absurdly awesome lip-sync-centric PMV by Stellafera. The idea behind this is an absolute no-brainer, and the mash-up is executed flawlessly, with each character and voice being assigned to an appropriate MLP character.

I tend to mark the greatness of PMVs by how entertained I am by them. Some PMVs may be really, really well done, but don’t necessarily keep me engaged through the whole thing. This PMV, on the other hand, though (technically speaking) rather basic, kept me delighted and grinning throughout, and that kind of entertainment is truly worth more in the hoof than two ponies on the roof (did I get my sayings mixed up somewhere in there? Oh well).

Anyhoof, go check it out below, and make sure to drop by Stellafera’s channel to subscribe or leave some feedback!

My Little Wicked: What Is This Feeling? \ Popular by Stellafera

Everyone looking forward to the season finale tomorrow? I know I am. In the mean time, have a double dose of Wicked! The sometimes antagonistic relationship between Applejack and Rarity is deliciously mirrored in these songs between Glinda and Elphaba. Great timing when showing the different singers and nice scene selection make this crossover almost too perfect.
